1994 B4000 pings under load. I also get a 186 (fuel pulse width to long) in the computer. I know it is running lean. I have changed the fuel pump amd regulator. Anyone have an idea what is wrong?
Running lean can cause it to ping. Since you are getting a trouble code, start with that.
One common cause of running lean and ping on these is a dirty MAF. I'd probably start by cleaning the MAF filaments.

I have cleaned MAF first thing. Just retorqued the intake. We will see tomorrow what it does
If you want to do the "guess and check" approach to diagnosis, then I can't stop you. But I would do a little more diagnosis before I entered "guess and check" mode.
186 is a CM code. Can I assume it passed the KOEO test? Did you try the KOER test? What do you get from the KOER test? What does the fuel pressure look like? Any vacuum leaks? And so on....

I do not have a fuel pressure gauge but all but the injectors has been replaced. Vacuum is at 19 in/hg. With that much it can not have a leak. It only pings under load. Then throws the code. Pulling a hill at speed does it or passing does it. The one other thing it does it will start when cold then quit but always restarts and stays running.
I had this problem earlier but the tranny went south for the summer. I just replaced it along with a clutch. now I am trying to fix it before winter and I need it to get out in the snow.
It was the MAF. I just put a new one in and reset the computer. I went for a 10 mile drive down hill. On the way back no ping no light.looks like I am good to go. Thanks for everyones help.
