help

i have a 2001 sd. 4x4 lariat cc 4x4v-10 and 2003 6.0 sd 4x4 cc lariat. i want a new truck. the v-10 has 120,000 miles and blackstone tells me this truck has been very well maintained over the years, i get 10-13 miles to the gallon with it. my 6.0 gets 14-16 miles to the gal., 104,000 miles now no problems what so ever. i haul 5-7000 pounds infrequently. what kind of mileage are you getting with the new v-10's now. i want a new lariat 4x2 cc. can you help me with this? also considering a f-150 with a 5.4 which i had before ('98) that got maximum 14 m.p.g. can you help me?

my old '99 with almost 100k gets 9 pulling my 11k 5'er. Now that engine is not as powerful as the '01. So i would think 5-7k would be a non issue per gas milage. I can only imagine how easily the new V10's would pull it and milage should range much better.

If I read your post correctly you have a 2v V10 that gets 10-13 mpg and a unknown year 6.0L PSD that gets 14-16 MPG and you want to know if a new 06/07 3v V10 will get as good or better fuel milage...

probably not... what you will get is a better power train combination that is easier to maintain then the 6.0L PSD and has more capability then your 01 2v V10

Up in the "sticky" area of this forum are the graphs that show the average MPG under different conditions... here is the truth: the average 3v V10 gets in the 12.5MPG range most of the time in mixed , fast and empty conditions

when she is loaded down and doing here tow haul thing it is between 7 and 9 MPG

your considering a F150 is confusing to the subject as most of us down here feel that as good as Fords trucks are the F150 is not in the same class as the F250 / F350 series .... On the other hand all you are telling us is that you WANT (not need) a new truck...

Bottom line then is to get what you like. If a F150 satisfies your vehicle needs then certainly a F250 or 350 would be expensive overkill.... especially if you are keeping the 6 liter PSD for any heavy hauling...

Bottom line number 2.... no sir I doubt you can find a 06 /07 3v V10 with 362 HP that will consistently get in the 14 MPG range unless you configure it very light, run the tires at max air pressure and drive like a little old lady every where with the wind to your back.... hard to do in the funnest BSEG machine an American Manufacture ever produced....

Happy shopping

I think it's important to realize that Ford increased power without decreasing economy.

I agree NoMo, Ford really hit a home run here with this motor to power the Super Duty, but seemingly 80% of the SD truck buying public doesn't agree with us. Maybe after they get tired of paying 50 to 60 cents more per gallon for fuel, plus 60 to 70 dollars more for regular service visits to do the same thing we do, it might sink in.

Gas has dropped 50 cents per gallon here in the past 3 weeks, while diesel has dropped maybe 10 to 15 cents/gal. Go figure!!!!!!!!!!!!!11
