I rebuilt my steering box using a kit from midfifty. It's pretty straightforward except for using the paper gasket shims to set the preload for the worm gear. Cost was $269 compared to $550 for a rebuilt steering box.

i have been doing a little research on this and found a compay that should be able to rebuild my box. I emailed them and the price seemd really reasonable. has anyone used them or recived products from them? their name is Lares corp and the link is http://www.larescorp.com/let me know. thanks

Does anyone know....Is there a similar toyota power steering box type swap for the 1947 pickups? Thanks
