Ford Y-Block: by James Eichman
Does anyone have a copy of a corrected errors sheet(s) that we might be able to get a hold of?
Thanks

p.s. after 8 hurricanes in 2004 & 2005; In 2006, the count stands as:
southwest florida -1, hurricanes -0 !!! Ernesto fizzled this evening!!!
Pg. 17: The 312 engine code is ECZ. ECJ is for 1955 292s only, I believe.
Pg. 17: The 285hp heads were allegedly milled .050 to raise CR to around 10.5:1 (per Bruce Young, who said he had a factory ref. on this)
Pg. 27: The casting # should be 5750471, not C1TE 471.
Pg. 28: The head chart has some questionable listings. For 1957, ECZ-E & ECZ-F are probably all ECZ-G, in reality. FWIW, the 5752113 is similar to ECZ-G, but with slightly larger chambers. Mummert's site has a much more comprehensive listing of head/block/crank/rod casting #s.
Pg. 29: He states that the 239 crank is not interchangeable. This is not true as it has been done to destroke for class racing, "back in the day". Eichman said later that his reasoning was due to the 239-only rod bearing design-but later most/all bearings were engineered to fit either design.
239 cranks have certain differently placed oil holes which MIGHT be a problem in hi-perf use. A good crank shop could fix this.
The flange may be different & need a spacer in certain cases.
This is all debatable, anyway, as few people are going to pick the 239 for anything more than a mild street hop-up or a stock restoration.
Pg. 38: The truck rod # should be C1TE-6200-C.
Pg. 72: As Paul stated the timing chain is incorrect, the marks should be on the right side (as you look at it) of the engine, 12 pins apart. This is the most serious error, but it's well documented by now. Also note the missing oil gallery plug, so it's a photo op.
Here is John Mummert's web site- also a good source of parts. http://www.ford-y-block.com/
Hope it helps.

Still building a library of documentation and support information to develop a build plan before we tackle our project 55 F100.
