4.9L Code Translation
I used the Check Engine light (MIL) to pull the following codes from my
1992 F-150, 4.9L-6, automatic, 2WD.
KEY-ON, ENGINE-OFF
332: EGR did not open/respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittantly - EVR or PFE
628: Excessive converter clutch slippage - Transmissions (Also saw another interpretation of this code as "Lockup solenoid circuit circuit failure.")
KEY-ON, ENGINE-ON
172: Oxygen sensor not switching - system is or was lean - Single, Right or Rear HO2S - Fuel control
332: EGR did not open/respond during test or if memory code, did not open intermittantly - EVR or PFE
538: (R) System did not receive "goose" test - TESTS
Can I make these repairs myself? I've done tuneups, brakes, etc. and have tools. What parts do I need? Or do I need to find a mechanic?
