I have an 03 fx4, with the 5.4. I recently recieved my new edge w/attitude. Now i have been playing around with it for about 2 weeks now. All of my trials have been with 93 fuel. My truck is completely stock, except for the drop in k&n, and the programmer. B4 i did and test with the truck i did a 0-60 test. Stock it was 9.4. With the on level 2 and some timing changes and shift firminess changes i managed to get an 8.2. Then i tryed it on level 3 and i could not tell any performance difference from level 2 to 3. Is this bc i still have the restrictive stock exhaust? My current setting on my truck are, level 2, wot shift points at 5300 rpm, for 1st-2nd, and 2nd-3rd. My shift firmness is at +3 for 1st-2nd, 2nd-3rd, and my timming is at +2. My truck will run a consistant 8.2 from 0-60.
I know that this is a new product, and im sure other people have asked some of the same questions, but how is everyone else running there setups? And has anyone else had the same issue with the level 2&3 performance being the same?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Sounds like you found a sweat spot. Gas tuners advance timing and add fuel. If your motor can't breath deep enough, it will pull fuel to keep the motor near stoich. I don't know your intake, but most stockers are baffled and very turbulent. Conversly, most mordern, primarily SS exhaust aren't that bad. I would start by cleaning the back of the throttle body and spraying the MAF down with a no residue electrical contact cleaner. After that, see if your intake has any restrictions like tight turns or baffling. Airaid makes pipe only kits for alot of vehicles, and it may help to introduce more air. The air box is another restriction, if it has only a single small opening, you can skeletonize the dirty side.
Thanks for the reply. I will take a closer look at the intake, which is still stock, and i will see if airaid makes just the intake pipe for my truck. But thanks again. I am also getting an exhaust ran later this week. I will post back after i get it installed, hopefully with good news and will be able to report some gains in power/ lower 0-60 times.
