Hello everbody,
I am new to this forum and this is my first post.
I have a 96 Ford Bronco with a 351/5.8 engine.
I am lookiing for strictly Gas Milage--I talked to alot of people and have been told that their isn't much I can do for an increase.
I have been told that a Cold Air Intake & CAT back system would help some.
Today I talked to a performance shop and they mentioned installing a programmer/chip from Super Chips or Hypertech but they couldn't guarantee any milage increase either.
I noticed that someone from Troyer Performance answers alot of questions and was wondering if he or anyone else can give me any advice or if there is any hope at all of gaining better gas milage.
Thank you in advance,
Paul43
I don't think the Superchips works on the 5.8 (just the newer motors (4.6, 5.4 etc..)). As far as programmers go, I think just Sniper and SCT are the only ones to have something. Diablo, Superchips & Hypertech I think only have "plug-in" chips.
Thanks fast SVTss, I'm still doing alot of research in hopes I can find some help--I really like the Bronco and it's in great shape--just hope I don't have to put the "For Sale" sign on it.
I got an add in the mail the other day, some company was claiming an 18% increase in mileage with sniper. Sence the last update, I have noticed my torque converter locks up earlier.
The problem is all of these are performance improvers, not mileage improvers. Gear it right, use skinny tires, keep up on the maintance and keep your foot off the accelerator and you should see the best mileage it will give you.
