been doing lots of research on setting an audio system up for my 1980 ford f 150.
the items i have picked are as follows
pioneer 7800 mp head unit
infinity reference 5761a 6 channel amp
infinity kappa 63.7i door speakers
infinity kappa 693.7i 6 x 9 speakers behind seat
q logix boxes for the 6 x9
q logic truck box for a single 12 inch sub
infinity perfect 12.1 sub
street wire amp wiring kit
2 street wire patch cables
I think after talking with crutchfield thats everything i need, hoping thats a decent setup
i have one major worry with this upgrade, can the charging system handle this? the truck already has been upgraded to a msd ignition and an electric fan, it has a 60 amp alternator.
Any help would be very appreciated
okay i can do that i actualy dont have an optima just a 1000 cranking amp interestate in there as the motor is like 12/1 compression lol. and just want to toss this out there, thank you kcidmil for all your kind help with this project.

I put a 130a on an 85 351HO. Check your local rebuilder. The larger case required mounting it lower on the motor with a different size belt. Also changed to a slightly smaller pulley for more idle charge. Worked great for me.
No sotck chargin system is going to like 3000 true watts, that is over 200a of current draw.
never said I ran it all the time, it was just to see what it would sound like. It was a clarion 1000 watt on 2 12's audiobahns, 1 1200 watt sony on a sonny 15 and i think it was 1250 4 channel bridged too two chanel on 2 10's. It didnt fry anything amazinly, and that was on a 14 year old alternator. Now I'm sure if I ran it for any more than a song or two running it whatsoever I would have ran into problems, just saying I've done it......
okay after talking to the crutchfield rep he recomended i go with a infinity 10 inch sub over a 12 as he felt it may be a tad overpowering as i wasnt into hearing the bass 5 blocks away just wanted a nice bass with a clear sounding system. so switched to that, everything else i listed is the same except i also ordered the sirius tuner . and really all i can say is crutcfield was very help and offered allot of discounts. would highly recomend them to anyone. its all ordered whooot

Clarion, Sony, and almost any 4 chanel rated at 1250w is highly over rated and produce a fraction of what they say they produce. They also could have been rated in peak power instead of RMS power.
Take it as you wish, I was just stating that I've had that much "peak" power in the bko, and didnt have a problem. Any regular consumer amp is going to be over rated until you get into the big boys.
