Hey guy's; I've got a "03", 6.0 diesel F-250. About 80 thousand miles. I'm pleaged with bad turbos, the local ddealer went through three of um before he found one that was good. I'm under an extented warrenty or I'd be going broke.
Is anyone else having turbo problems? Thanks Jc
I have had 2 turbos replaced in 15,000 miles on my '03. Told I don't drive it enough and Ford hotline said I should drive it like I stole it. Thank god I have an extended warranty also. It's to bad that you have to put miles on it to keep the turbo from seizing/rusting. Ford/International has deliver a bad product and should stand by it's customers regardless of mileage. They should warranty it for 100k since it's a known problem but they don't seem to care. Do they think people with multiple turbo problems will buy another truck in the future? No wonder their sales are down!
There has been enough trouble with the(GARRETT) turbos that there is repairs available that stop return repairs on the trucks. All that is necessary, is your dealership has to be informed enough to perform them.

03f250...It's not secret that these trucks are made to be driven hard. If memory serves me the 100K warranty does cover the Turbo and the 6.0 has gone through leaps and bounds on improvement. FORD does stand by their customers fairly well, but it all depends on what attitude the owner shows up with at the service dept. I doubt FORD's sales are down because of this. I would bet that the price of fuel and other things are more the problem. Right now it's just FORD's turn. Remeber not long ago GM was all over the news?
Jeff...What mileage intervals was it that your first, second and third turbos were changed? What symptoms were you having? Maybe your service dept is missing something causing this problem. What was the date of your last turbo change?
Turbo's ARE covered under the 100K warranty and because they are considered a pollution control item---NO $100 deductible should be charged---they should be replaced FREE.
LVEILLON: I am aware that the turbo is covered by the 5 year/100K warranty but what I should have said was since there is a known problem with the turbo, Ford shound warranty the turbo for 100K regardless of years of service. Ford has not solved the turbo issue in 4 years. My last turbo was replaced in June at 15K and I had to protect myself and purchase an extended warranty for $2850. If there wasn't such a big problem with the turbos, I would not have spent the money. In the past I never purchased an warranty. $3000+ for a turbo replacement shouldn't have to be paid by loyal Ford customers. My last truck was a '86 6.9 and is still running strong for my son. What I wanted was reliablity and that's not what I got. Ford has replaced the VGT solenoid twice and the MAP & EBP sensors once. Being retired, I do not drive the truck every day like most people but to help the turbo I'am driving the truck harder and hope it helps. . I feel strongly feel Ford should back the troubled turbo for 100K miles regardless of years of service at least for the '03's and the early '04's.

Yes--they are now considered pollution control devices (at least what I've been told by a local dealer here) and are not subject to the deductible. I wish someone could absolutely double check that, but that's what I was told by a very reliable source.
I double checked and you do NOT have to pay your deductible. It's a very new program. Bowtiehatr---If you check it out and there are special or different circumstances then please let me know and I'll strangle the evil weed at it's roots, but he assures me that the turbo has NO deductible required.

That may be replacement and not repair. I'll have to double check that part also.

The answer would be "yes". I also have 80,000 + miles and they replaced the turbo twice within 2 weeks before my truck would run again. My only concern is that I can no longer hear the turbo talking to me as before, the power is there but the sound is not. Thank God I too have an extended warrenty on my truck also. Toni
