SoCal, I had the 05e16 recall done on my '05. What a disaster. My boost went limp (yeah, it is working, but not like before). I took it to the dealer to end all dealers in Fontana to have an oil leak fixed and to figure out why I am now doing 2500 rpms to get 20 on the boost gauge (was 2000 rpms before to get 20). The recommended tech tells me that the new flash detunes the engine...that is the way it is. So I leave Fontana with the oil leak fixed, a new flash and now I am doing 3000+ rpms to get up to 20 on the boost gauge. It went worse.
Hey 66,
That particular flash worked well in my truck, and several of my friends trucks, all performed by the same tech. in San Bernardino. I have heard (and seen) trucks that did not perform well after reflashing, were reflashed again and performed well. I have also seen trucks that had some underlying issue or problem that became apparent after the reflash, some without kicking the cel. Is the truck only making 20 lbs. of boost max? If I recall, even with a reflash, trucks should make 26 lbs. minimum at max boost.
good news is turbos are emmissions components.
bad news is i checked with my warranty clerk and the warranty is 5/50 no deductible, after 5/50 100 deductible.
Hmmmm---OK. I didn't get those kind of details, but I'm glad for the information, thanks for setting me straight. Still better than 1500+ or so for a turbo. I'm waiting for the 6.4 to come out as I'm getting 4wd fever (especially living in the mountains). I'd really like to have another 6.0, since I know what to do to keep them kickin. The bottom end on these motors is really strong and I feel like the electronics problems are solved for the most part, so I've got a tough decision.
LOL--never worried about the bottom end--it's rock solid from everything I've seen....it's the electronic/emissions that seem to have been the problem. I'm just gonna see how the "twins" work out and what kind of quirks they have. Seems ford is either gettin the 6.4 right or they're pushing the deadline for release as the 6.0 can no longer be used after Jan. 1 2007 in new production vehicles.
LMAO--I can DREAM can't I???? I was just thinkin of the "twins" and some 4X4 power. Do you guys know if the crank is gonna be the same and they overbored it, or is it gonna be stroked and bored?
