Transmission Problems

I intalled the edge evolution on my 03 f-150 today and am having some problems with my tranny. Everything seemed alright performance wise but i noticed some bucking and slipping (sort of) on the tranny. It seemed to get a little better as I drove more and am begging to think the computer needs to to learn the program. The biggest problem I have is decelerating in od. If im crusing about 65 in od and let off the accelerator it seems like the tranny downshifts too soon, almost like it is trying to engine brake. I did read somewhere on here that somebody with a 6.0 went to a mechanic and was told his tranny wasnt slipping but it was shifting down 2 gears instead of one. I've only had it for about half a day but ive drove about 75 miles on it and probably shut it off and restarted at least a dozen. does anybody have any insight on my problem? thanks

Shift strategy is usually to pump up line pressure and ocasionally add a few hundred rpm to the shift points. If the line pressure is boosted and your trans is slipping your going to need to get it rebuilt. Higher line pressures make the gears ingage quicker so they spend less time slipping on the clutches. I haven't sold/installed an evolution yet, but it should have an option on shift pressure or firmness. I would suggest dialing it to mild if you left it stock, or the next step up from what ever setting you used. On my superduty, the stock shift points are better than what I have managed to change, so try returning them to stock.

I had a predator programmer that allowed me to modify the performance tune and put the tranny settings back to stock. Check to see if you can set your tranny back to the stock settings. The increased line pressure is no good for your tranny in the long run.

Tranny Prob

I don't know anything about the edge tuner and the 6.0 must be the diesel. Sorry not a Diesel fan. I have the v10 6.8l. I installed a Hypertech Max Energy. I did all the little things ur supposed to do and up'ped the shift points by +200 RPM. But it seems that no one have even heard of the Ford Tranny (4r100) problem. Your 03 has the same tranny as my 99 F350. The tranny has a 'BY-PASS line' that in the winter it is suppossed to route the fluid back into the tranny pan instead of the cooler until the fluid got to a certain temp then it would word as normal. Well, As the miles rack up, the bypass gets all messed up and will start diverting oil again thus overheating the trans. Ford should have recalled this prob! So it makes for a stable position as a tranny rebuilder!. I have also been told that somtimes you upgrade with a tunner, it can mess up your o/d. Do you have a press button O/D on your gear shifter?when you turn off the o/d does it it have a light at the end of the shifter that lights up and says off? I believe an 03 is the same as my 99. OD button just pops off the end of the shifterwith the button. Sometimes, you have to replace that. like I said, I know not much about diesels ( except ) when I tear them down for machining. But I believe you still have the 4r100 tranny.
Hope some of this rambling helps??
