Thanks alot for the info. I've been looking for a newer truck and found a very nice 2000 for a pretty sweet deal but I was considering a new one cause of all those great end of the model year rebates and I just didn't know how big of a difference there was for the new truck price.
In the long run you probably would be happier with the 05 and up not only for the added HP and Torque but there were several other refinements as well. The 5R100 TorqShift trany (if you prefer automatics) is a great leap forward. The integration of the ABS and SRS and the bigger diameter brakes make for a safer and better mannered machine in fully loaded and emergency conditions
I now prefer the coil sprung front end..especially the much tighter turning radius
On the other hand a 2000 MY SuperDuty for the right money, and previous owner being very consistent with the services.. is bound to yield years and years of real good service... the 99 and up SuperDuty was and is light years ahead of the old skool heavy duty Ford trucks from 87-98
You are stuck with a choice between two great options... happy shopping!
