changing bulb on transmission indicator

I need to change the bulb on the shift selector dial for a 1978 F-150 with the C-6 transmission. It has the tilt wheel. What is involved in getting at the bulb to replace it?
I posted this in the transmission section, but got no response.

Get yourself a long needle nose pliers.
Remove the plastic cowl attached to the dash that covers the bottom of the column....
You will see a single blue/red striped wire
That's for the bulb.
Now Reach up inside the steering column and pull the light bulb socket out with the pliers.
*NOTE: Just Pulling on the wire will break the wire off the little contact inside the socket.
Installation is the opposite
