Wow Mad!! That's a heck of an ordeal to have to go through. Humor is the best medicine to get you through things, and this forum has so many morphed threads, starting one off topic sure can't hurt anything.

I've often thought of what would happen if I had to face a "me or him" situation, and then fast forward to the trial...

Attorney: Why did you shoot him 6 times?

Me: Thats all the bullets my gun held.

I guess you know where I stand

But really, I'm hoping you're able to deal with things and thoughts and such, my concern is for you and your life movng forward, not for the one that tried to take youor life from you.

I'm in for a 20 to cover your deductible, I spit on the grave of the one who tried to take your life/property by force.

NOT the wrong forum, Guy get equalized by a Ford truck, majority of members feel the same regarding the end result. The chaplain did not pre-meditate somebodys death. The bag was dealt the card he deserved and we all speak volumes at funerals, even lie about " how great the guy was " . I genuinely fell really bad for Mad, as he will never really ever be able to forget this and it will be with him forever making him the victim. And I don't recall anyone " bragging" about the situation. I do find it interesting that we ( most ) us like our trucks and despise the lowlifes that are amoungst us.

Don't get me wrong. I'm not crying for the mugger. I just hate to see unnecessary division here. Even though most guys here agree the world is better with that dude gone (including me), if you look through the posts you'll see a few guys were not comfortable with the tone of the thread.

One of the cool things about FTE is that there is precious little flaming that goes on, lots of great info about trucks, and a pretty cozy atmosphere.

When I saw guys starting to disagree in this thread, and the disagreement had nothing to do with trucks, I stopped liking the thread. Pretty simple.

Yep, this thread is getting dangerously close to religion and politics; 2 things that you don't want to get into here. I personally think scumbags like that should die of syphillis and burn in hell, but as soon as you say that, someone gets offended, and people start talking about the philosophy of human life, liberals vs. conservatives, and the price of gas...sorry, wrong thread. Charlie Daniels has a forum where you can voice any opinion you want, this place is for talking about '48-'60 Ford trucks. BTW, this is the only forum that I frequent, so I'm not up on all the lingo; what is "flaming"? There should be a reference thread for forum rookies like me that includes a glossary of terms. For example, what is "ILYA"?

Fellows,

I like Tim (mtflat). Though I've never met him, nor spoken to him, I have communicated with him off forum on more than one occasion with regards to the 48-50 VIN #'s. I read his posts because I respect his knowledge. That won't change because I disagree with his position on the dead guy. Tim at least provided some credentials to support his position and why he thinks the way he does. I respect that and it lends credibility to his position because as I see it, he acts on his beliefs. I still don't believe the guy who tried to cap Mad deserves my sympathies and I stand by my original comments. On that Tim and I will have to always respectfully disagree. This doesn't mean I don't like or respect him.

Just so nobody thinks I am some sort of hard core a$$, I believe that there are plenty of folks in the world who deserve our sympathies - the mentally retarded (my younger brother who I care for), children who are ards of the state (my wife and I are in the process of adopting a five year old girl from the State of Texas - they don't end up in state custody because something good happened to them - hopefully complete in October), the list goes on. In this case, my sympathies go out to Mad, As stated above, he won't soon forget this incident and he was the victim.

Flaming is harshly critisizing someone on the board or yelling at them.

"Ilya" is the name of one of the members, "51panelman"

Oh, I thought "ILYA" was something like "IMHO" or "BTW".

Oh, man, words can be such a trap sometimes. Sorry if my comments were taken the wrong way - I should have kept it shorter. I'm not asking anybody to sympathize with the perp. As I said earlier, he got what he asked for. Plain and simple.

A respect for life - any life - seems to be disappearing and is being replaced by a callous disregard for life. IMHO. That's all I've been trying to say, and now back to the topic.......

Madathlon, I hope you get your truck back up and running quickly - that 60 is a beauty. And yellow is my favorite color. I had a Mach 1 in yellow once, long ago and far away - until I rolled it

I was going to paint my 48 that yellow with brown flames until my sons talked me out of it. They thought it would look like it hit a pile of poop. lol Maybe it would have as I'm not the greatest painter.

Amen. This topic has spun a little out of control, and I think enough has been said about it's contents.

I think they're probably right! My father had a tan S-15 (I know, I know), that he painted turquoise scallopes on (you know, the pointy stripes on the front). Everybody in town started calling it the snot-mobile. I told him he shouldn't paint that color, but he did it anyways, and had to live with the consequences.

Mad, I hear ya. the 48-50 grill is no piece of cake either. It seems to be a common theme on these trucks that the grill is impossible to remove without tearing the whole truck apart...

...what was Ol' Henry thinkin??

If you need help finding parts, let us know

Not, just Henry, but an improved version of the Ford software called Henry 2. Lol, Henry 2 was the postwar Mr. Ford.
