I was in 2nd and I just let the cluch go.. Not on the gas becouse there would have been more damage ( I think ) And one must enjoy life.. Even with a little off colour jokes in the worse of times..
I wasnt sure how damaged the truck was, so i assumed you gassed it a little. And I do agree with you about dark jokes. You must have some nice torque in that engine..letting the clutch out in 2nd and not stalling...but then again were you moving (as in about to park?)
Deffinately did what I woulda done. Although, I automatically assumed the guy was pinned, not dead (hence my question way back there).
The guy had issues, and at least at one time had parents. All joking aside, it's sad that some poor schmo was so diluted that he resorted to robbery at gun point. I'm reminded of a famous saying--I won't say where from--that, "The wages of sin is death." Unfortunately for this guy, his wages came sooner rather than later.
I think Madathlon did the right thing, and I think joking, while rather inappropriate at times, is a common reaction to this sort of thing. And I do still want to see pictures.
Blue .. I took pics of the damage.. Will get the film prosessed sometime next week.. And U pin someone with a full size truck that I never use the brakes and they get squished.. the bumper took more damage from the wall the the guy.. the grill has a impression of his chest in it..
I think killing the man was the right decision. I dont think that joking about it is.
It is an ugly situation, one all of us hope never happens to us. It is sort of like a plugged tolet - something we would like to avoid, but if it has to be done, you "harden your heart" and do it.
If making jokes makes it more palatable, then I am all for jokes.
if Mad had not stopped him, the next time it could have been your wife or daughter, and there are worse things than armed robbery.
I do a lot of traveling and keep pepper spray on the seat beside me, and a can of it next to the door of my travel trailer. I use pepper spray to avoid problems with the cops should I get stopped, and also because I am afraid someone would take a gun away from me and use it -- likely on me first!
This guy was a son, maybe a brother, maybe an uncle, maybe a husband, or even a father.
A son, brother, uncle, husband, and father...So was Hitler, Jeffrey Dahmer, the Sept. 11 hijackers, etc. He was about to blow Mad's brains out. He may have been all those things at one time, but now he's just a paperweight, a boat anchor, hmmm, fertilizer, worm food,...can't think of any more.
As far as this one goes, you are my hero of the week. Job well done. Regrding helping out, let us know if there is a part or two you can't find. I'm sure I'm not the only one that would be willing to keep an eye out for you. I am very happy to hear that you were not hurt.
Got any pictures of the wall??
I wasn't joking about this. I mean everything I stated above. The guy was a dirt bag and got what he had coming to him. If someone has a problem with that, or is so concerned about the "poor guy's" feelings, they should invite a couple of these scumbags to live next door to them and not preach to us about our feelings on the matter. Better yet, invite them to move in. Actions speak.
