Thankyou for your speedy reply. I inquired what type of engine towers i will need to swap a 6 cyl with a standard tranny, to a 302 with a auto tranny. Your reply was a 302/351w perches. I neglected to inform you that the switch was standard to auto c4, now what do you suggest for the transmission mount.
Are there any specific years for the perches or will any years do. Also are there any specific years for the tranny mount.

I am a Lay person when it comes to building fords so bear with me.

Thanks again
John:-

For the perches, any late 69 to 79 small block will work for you. I don't know about all transmissions. Other then the stock transmissions, I've installed a C5, a T5, a T10, and an AOD into a 65/66 F100 2 wheel drive. The mounts are sold as 65-72 automatic, and 65-72 standard. LMC Truck carries them, and they're from 12 to 18 dollars, depending on which one you use. The only difference is where the holes are located from front to rear, where the mount bolts to the transmission. Worst case scenerio, I had to slot the holes one time for one installation. I had to drill new holes in the frame for another (the T5). The C5 I installed is real similar to a C4, but has a lock-up converter. I just went to the parts store and asked for a trans mount for a 70 F100 with an automatic and a 302. I used the year 1970, because obviously a 302 never came in a 65. One of my own personal trucks is a 65 stepside too. I have a styleside also, but prefer the lines of the stepside bed for any truck 66 and older. It just seems to go better with the rounded looking cab. I'm selling the 65 styleside, since I have too many projects going at one time. I hope I answered your questions without rambling on too much.

John, All the trannys starting in 65 use the same mount from the tailshaft to the cross member. You may have to move the crossmember to adjust for the tailshaft length as prev. posted.

I compared side by side the 300 6cyl & stick crossmember along with a 302 & C4 crossmember, they seem to be the same units. I used the rubber C4 mount in the stock holes of my stick trans crossmember with no drilling and no problems..
