Im trying to install a 302 with a od tranny in my 67 ford truck. The last motor was a 0lder 292 v8.I bought motor mounts out of a 78 ford truck with 302 two wheel drive.Dropped the motor down in and im a 1 inch away from touching the perch for the mount. When one side is in its place.Measuring from the core support to center the perches are offset about a 1 inch and 1/4.measuring the 302 with the new motor mounts, from the back of the block to the center of the mount stud its the same.Im assuming that one of the perches or both will have to be moved or changed.Just dont know what way to straigten itall out. Anybody got any ideas? moparnut
My first question, is why do you think (or know) that the old engine is a 292? That engine was last installed in 64 and is a front/rear mount, and not a side mount. The engine bays are all the same as far as mount location goes from 65 to 79, so your 78 perches should work just fine. There are more than one set of holes down there, check and see if you need to move to another set. You should not have to make any new ones.
Thanks for the replie,I know the motor was a old one .My brother took it out,it needed work. The part about the front and rear mounts on such a old motor I didnt know about. This has got me wondering what the heck is in therefor perches off the frame. The passnger side perch looks good ,the drivers side looks like its not lined up with the framerail at the top.anymore ideas? moparnut
