Hey all, first, thanks for the all the info you guys have given me. I ordered my '07 Supercrew today! Does anyone have that aux audio input jack? I just wanted to know how well it worked with an iPod. Thanks!

Not sure about the 07, but the 06 and earlier needs a PIE adapter to make it work..

Yeah, I see that it connects in that top storage tray on the dash. I was just wondering if anyone had used it yet and how did it sound. In my F150 now, I have to use an FM transmitter to run the iPod through the radio.

Yeah, I have that FM transmitter for my truck and work truck. The sound quality isn't the best, and you can get interference from other radio stations, especially if you travel over a long distance through different towns (like I do). But it beats having to haul all of those CDs back and forth, or leaving them in your truck. The aux jack in my new truck looks like a direct input, so the sound quality should be good.

My wife has an 07 Yukon Xl with the Aux plug built in and it works great! Just plug it in and it starts automatically. I ordered a PIE adapter for my 05 F-150 today so I can stop using the terrible FM modulator. They are a waste of money.

If you have the overhead rail system on a 06 or 07 they come prewired for a number of applications in the first storage bin. For example, brandmotion offers an ipod connection device and a bluetooth handsfree unit that plugs directly into the plug above the first bin and it mutes the radio when recieving calls.

I can plug the iPod directly into the stereo in my '07, but that bluetooth option in the overhead storage bin is something interesting. I wanted the bluetooth in the truck when I ordered it, but it wasn't an option on my '07. I'll have to check out brandmotion for that part, thanx!

Can I plug in my sat radio or an Ipod through that jack in the overhead rail storage bin? I did not even know there was a jack up there.
Is it a 3.5 mm plug?

DJR 17, I have the AUX button on my audiophile system in my 05 F150 KR and have a sunroof so no overhead storage bins. I've looked all over for an Aux input and can't find one. Do you know where it is and assuming I have one, where to get the PIE adapter? Thanks for your help, my service advisor was no help on this one.

Ford F150 Accesory cat has a part "base part no. 19C142" that allows you to plug in accesory inputs. Cost was $50.00.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the aux jack isn't an option until 07 MY. Otherwise you have to get a PIE adapter to utilize the AUX, button on the front of your radio. If you have factory satelite radio, then your SOL

96f150,

Got me. The part I listed, is in the 2006 F150 accessories book I found at the dealer. I don't know what a PIE adapter is, but the description in the catalog is of a harness that would allow you to plug a 3.5 mm stero connector into the system and play through the radio.
Try the dealer to see what they say. I only have the owners manua, so I can't tell you much more. I have the shop manuals on order, they may be able to shed some light when they come in.
