96 ranger with new noises!!!
PLEASE HELP!!! I have a 96 ranger XL ext cab 3.0 v6 and lately I have heard this sound that appears to be coming from passengers side under the hood that can only be heard in the cab not with hood propped. It almost sounds like a loud clock. (Second hand) it is a clicking noise that is constant and does not change with rpm usage. it sometimes clicks and other days it does not. does anyone have any idea what this could be???!!!!

At first glance I was going to toss out a lack of oil to your upper internals, BUT you said it doesn't change with vehicle RPMs...
So maybe it's your Compressor that your're hearing??
Could it be misconstrude as a rattle?

HA!! I fell stupid but I was driving to work today and thought "why don't I turn off my air vent!" and of course it stopped!! So i must have a broken air vent!!! anyways let that be a lesson to the rest of you!! Turn off everything before you freak out!
