Hi,I need help with my 99' Exp. EB, when I remove the key the radio stay on and the AC panel blinks like crazy in addition I closed the truck and the AC turn on and off by itself with no keys on the steering wheel!!!! , also I noticed when I move the handle on the steering wheel from Parking to Drive the radio switches from off to on and viceversa, any ideas?
I'm sorry, it appears that I didn't finish... we tend to look at the GEM (Generic Electronics Module), which should be on top of your fuse panel (the one under the steering wheel). Generally, water gets to it through a windshield leak and crazy (full moon type of) things start to happen.
I'll second that. My neighbors did the same thing. That windshield leak drains water directly onto the GEM and when that starts shorting it can cause all kinds of gremlins to pop up.
Mine did many of those things for several days then my battery died. Replaced the battery and all the demons have apparently been exorcised and that was a couple of months ago. Last time I had to replace the battery (about 3 years ago) it was preceded by wildly fluctuating gauges. YMMV
Ok people check this out , I talk to an electronic tech. and he told me that sometimes the GEM on a car stays "on", like energized, so I disconnect the fuse that work for the radio and the GEM and presto!, the problem is gone, hopefully is fixed forever.
