The manual for my 99 EB Expedition states that the windows and radio should operate for 10 minutes after the key is removed or until a door is open. The windows work as adverstised, but the radio goes off immediately when the key is removed. Is there a way to turn the feature on and off for the radio, or is there a problem somewhere?
I have an Expy 99 also and the delay accesory has never worked as the manual states. I always though that the 99 supoused to work this way, but since trike1946 has a 99 also working fine, then I will start to look for the fuses to see if everything is OK.
I remember reading another thread like this earlier and someone said it has to do with teh Speed Sensitive Volume. If you have it ON, the delay doesnt work. I havent tried, but worth looking into.
For the 99 model year, only the "Super Sound" audio system has the radio powered by the accessory delay (it is a relay that is controlled by the GEM and located in the interior fuse panel). All other audio packages have the radio powered by the ignition switch. If you don't have a factory subwoofer, you don't have the "Super Sound" system (now called "Audiophile") and your radio will turn off when the key is turned off. If there was something wrong with the accessory delay relay, the power windows (and possibly radio- if you have "Super Sound") would not work at all. Hope this helps.
Hmmm.. I have the Factory Sub, and I DID turn the SSV down to 0 (didnt see OFF) and still no radio after removing keys. Windows do work with key out. I'm not that worried about it since when I pull my key out, I'm leaving the truck.
