damaged tailpipe!! bummer :(

Well, I decided to back into something and bent my 4" tailpipe down to about 1" thin. Luckily I didn't damage the truck, so now I am thinking about chunking that tailpipe and doing something different.

I was going to do 5" after the 4" downpipe and exit bin front of the rear wheel.

1. how much black soot collects on the tire and wheel? (i think kwik might know)
2. any difference in cab noise?

now is the perfect time for STACKS!

if you dont want it to show, cut it on a 45* angle facing downward at the closest spot to the bend that is still good. if you are worried about a black tire, cut it right after the hump and before it angles out to the side.

I've got a dually, and the lower rear of the fender gets blackened up some. Takes some scrubbing to get it clean. I personally wouldn't do a side pipe for that reason... too tough to clean the wheels, and the tire itself will get filthy, too. I actually just saw a pic last night of someone with a side pipe and the entire wheel/tire was pitch black... however I can't remember the link, and I think it was a bombed cummins... won't have quite as much smoke with your mods as that truck.

Nice pic!!, I think I'll just try to do some stacks now. I really don't like running it through a pinched pipe but I might have to wait for a while. Thanks for the info!

Spray some wheel cleaner on that soot and it will melt off.

Here's a pic of mine: http://community.webshots.com/photo/...81971944OiToqB
I go from a Hog performance Stainless Downpipe to a 4-5" converter, 5" straight pipe then to a 45* 5" bend out in front of the rear wheel.

PS - it's for sale

Very nice!, I like how that looks. Now I have to decide if I want to do stacks or side exit. Arggg! Hard decision!

I used to have the side pipe. It was nice for a while but the tire getting black along with the whole side of my truck got old. So i put the stacks on, much happier.

Maybe every two weeks I have to wipe the wheel down.
