BTS Valve Body = sluggish reverse?

well, got a '00 F350, CC LB 7.3 AT 4x, recently installed a BTS VB along with a new filter. So, since doing that my truck is very slow in reverse, like your slipping the clutch, or it's in low range. It seems more prevalant when the truck is warmed up, but not sure about that... I only back up twice, first is downhill and the truck is allready warm the second time. I checked my fluid and it looked good, I'll try again in the mornin when it's good and warm.

Thanks for any input!

That doesn't sound normal. I just recieved my bts valve body and going to put it in this week. Hope that mine doesn't do that. I would call brian or cal, they have been extremely helpfull with me and from what i read on this site bts stands behind their work and should fix the problem for you. Goodluck

my guess is that there is a fluid pressure leak on the reverse circuit. either in the valve body of where it bolts to the trans and it is making the clutch/bands slipping

I'd give Brian a call. Chances are he can tell you right off the bat some things to check for & diagnose, or to make sure you did when installing it.

Had the same problem with my factory tech valve body. Sent it back and they sent me a new one and the problem went away. It looked to me like the mating surface was not completly flat.

This could be a big one that would definately cause some fluid flow problems. Brian has told me about several people who forgot to pull this one out before putting the plate on.

well, depends on what you mean...

I did remove it, but the returned it to it location on reassembly. I guess I didn't understand the proper way to install it, I just held it up and trapped in with the valve body, didn't turn and lock it in. Maybe this is part of my problem?

Didn't get a chance to call BTS today and I'd like to talk to them before I drop the pan and waste a case of ATF, so guess I'll wait till monday to proceed. If anyones had this problem chime in, I need some help, don't wanna cook my tranny!

I just sent you a private message with a link to guzzle's install of the bts valve body. Just in case you read this before the message here it is again. http://guzzle.rbmicro.com/bts.html

hey, thganks for the link, thats why I love this site.

I'd actually seen that site before, just forgot about the particulars. So, it appears that the thimble filter does go back in, I'm just wondering if not giving it the 1/4 turn to lock it in could affect it.
