well for the C6 you will need the adapter and the corresponding tailshaft. for the longer adapter (8.75" IIRC) you need the longer tailshaft. and respectively for the short adapter (8.75") the short tailshaft. bolting up any of fords t-cases from ~75 to 96 will pretty much bolt in. i believe they all have the 6 bolt round pattern. the NP205 will be your strongest option but low range sucks on those so something like a 1356 gives a super low range with pretty good durability.
if you're gonna do the swap do it right.... find a Dana 44 from a 79 or earlier F150/100. they utilize a solid axle with coils so they are easy to setup and ride nice.
Where can I find info relating to the versions of t/c's that came in a particular truck? Is there a code on the door jam sticker or is it down to visual recognition of the T/C ?
Could you further explain the advantages over the independent front axle system.
