89 eec code list

Anyone have them....I did a search but couldn't find a list.

If you could post them or a link, that would be a big help.

Thanks.

What code did you have? Post them and I'll look up what I can find, the list is too long to type here.

Two or more successive erratic Profile Ignition Pickup (PIP) pulses occurred, resulting in a possible engine miss or stall.

probably the TFI module on side of distributor failing, common problem with 80's and early 90s Fords
clean connections and connector on TFI and apply a coating of automotive ignition dielectric grease to connections
clear codes by disconnecting neg. batt. lead for 10 minutes, reconnect....if code returns>replace TFI

Detailed description click

there is also a procedure to test the TFI
search Aero forum

the code 14 was a stored code....I just recently replaced the ignition switch, old one was badly damaged...> Could the old one have caused that error?

I will reset the codes and see if I get it again.

Thanks for your help!

is it possible for those of us with the tfi on the distributor to get the module relocated a cooler location? i have had this module fail on me twice already. its just in a really stupid location where all the heat concentrates there.

H.eated E.xhaust G.as O.xygen sensor
3" long cylinder with wires coming out end mounted in exhaust pipe in front of cat. converter
common failure item
search Aero forum for replacement techniques beside using IED's and C4 satchel charges
spray with PB penetrant, let soak overnite and use 3' pipe wrench with pipe
heating at base may help to break rust weld

common name O2 sensor

AeroVan,

ran across web site that had DIYer project to move dist. TFI to front of radiator in cool air flow stream....don't have link....recall they used an old TFI module as connector into dist. then shielded cable to feed to working TFI up front...each lead will probably have to be shielded

never have owned a TFI dist Ford, but family had dozens in 80's and early 90's, Rangers Explorers etc....lots of failures and lots of walks out remote logging roads
Ford supposedly improved the TFI in later part mods to withstand the heat

try a section of 3" or 4" flex dryer hose from hole in front radiator mount to bring cool air flow back onto TFI...there is little air flow back in that area so any extra cooling would help
i run a 3" tube from front to my 4L alternator, no more diode pack or regulators burning up towing

may be unplugged
search web for test techniques. may be not getting heater voltage or broken wires or connections
also, coolant leak into engine, silicone spray and a number of other mishaps can kill a perfectly good O2 sen. in seconds
have seen logging road rocks take them out...just the shock of a hit
