My 1995 Aero with 150k and 4.0 motor has a slight fuel smell in all driving conditions. This just started in the last couple of weeks.I,ve traced the fuel lines from the fuel tank all the way to the motor and find only dry connections. I removed the air intake and see no leaking. Where is the charcoal cannister (if equipped) and where else should i start looking. Thanks in advance for any help in this matter.

charcoal cannister on passenger front frame stub to side of engine....covered up by air box, air tube, alternator, ac hoses
look for a vacuum line pulled off the cannister, the fuel vapor valve or the vacuum tree on the rear of the intake manifold....lines just barely long enough...easily disturbed and pulled off....causes fuel vapor odor
also examine fuel rail on top of engine and scrade pressure release valve....may also be failed O ring seal on injector or fuel pressure regulator or return line to fuel tank from reg.
slight drip, 1 per half hour can cause all types of fuel odor
look for staining from dryed fuel
fuel leaks around engine are dangerous...there is a troubleshooting uv dye that one can put in the fuel tank...use uv black light to detect dye and leaks
Another great call. I removed the air box and right underneath on the vapor cannister was a cracked hose. It was almost completely severed. The odor in the area was unmistakable. Thanks alot.
