Extended Warranties

Anyone have experience with Warranty Direct as an extended warranty, realting to warranty claims - are they good or difficult to work with. Is it worth the money?

Any info appreciated

Most all the extended warrantry companies are difficult to deal with. What do you want to put a warranty on?

I bought a used 2004 F150 that's beyond the Ford mileage limit. It's pricy, but with all the problems I read that these trucks have had / are having it would be great to have a "warranty", but not if it will be a major pain in the @$% to make a claim against.

Overall, warranties do not cost a company money--they make it for them if they have actuaries with anything approaching half a brain.

A warranty, extended or not, is a gamble. No casino loses money in the long run.

If you have concerns about the reliability of the truck, then don't buy it. A warranty is as good as the company that stands behind it. If they don't honor it, you wasted your money.

Personally, I think you should just buy my truck.

andym, I'm leaning that way, ... I guess it's just the cautios "person" inside of me that rears his ugly head every once in a while. The truck has some miles now, 67,700 to be exact which tells me 2 things - 1) most likely they are highway miles, 2) if the truck went that far within 2 years, then it's probably okay. Except, the Cruise Control doesn't work, but I got them to throw that fix in with the deal, however the Ford place where i bought it is having trouble tracking down the "ghost" problem - as they describe it. I'm held up in taking receipt of the truck until the master mechanic gets a crack at it, and supposidly he is on some other "rush" jobs. My wife is about to ape crazy she wants that truck so bad, ... I had to remind her that it's for me, but then she made it clear that it (truck) has to pull her camper. Fair enough!
