Ford Extended Warranty

Im about to purchase a Ford vehicle, I need help finding the best price for an extended warranty and maintenance plan. I don't have to buy the warranty from the dealer I buy the car from correct? That being said, which dealership has the best pricing?
thanks for your assistance.

extended warranties are a scam. door lock actuator is a $30 repair. but because of the way the extended warranty is written, it is going to cost you $100 for that repair.
plus a lot of things are not covered.
stick with the new car warranty. if you do get an extended warranty, do not pay for it, have the dealer do it for free.

You can buy it down the road...but...it must be before the original warranty expires by either time or mileage. I'm not sure a maintenance plan will be available down the road. You can get great pricing by doing internet searches for the plans...dealers are selling them dirt cheap...compared to the speel you'll get from your selling dealer. Some of the more aggressive dealers are Ford of Greenfield...Troy Dietrich...and...Lombard Ford.

By the way...you are looking for an Extended Service Plan...not an extended warranty. By definition...a warranty is free. There are court cases which establish this. I would recommend that you stick with the OEM plans from Ford...not the many aftermarket ones available.

Good luck!!!

In today's high tech world, an ESP is not a scam, sadly, it's becoming a necessity if you plan to keep the vehicle for a longer duration.

Tim, i did not say an ESP was a scam. i said an extended warranty is a scam. there is a big difference.
ESP is sold by the dealer while the vehicle is still under manufacturer warranty. extended warranty is sold by an aftermarket firm, and is a scam.

I beg to differ Tom...either way if you purchase one...it's an Extended Service Plan...a warranty is always free. I do however agree with you that you're better off with the ESP offered by the original manufacturer through dealerships. Aftermarket warranties are a much more risky business and often require the owner to jump through onerous hoops in order to have the contract honored.
