I think those systems just heat and circulate the coolant. Similar to a block heater, but it actually circulates the coolant rather than just heating it and relying on thermal flows.
the truck coolant is 150 degree C (operating range) after 15 min. It have a built in timer, that the ownert can set. it heat coolant by burning fuel (diesel)( no 110 v neded) Every International Truck 2007 and higher got it serial, commins got the same on a different name. The dealer said that u start and run like u would have run for an hour.
I think i will try, Here in Québec (Canada north) it is Very cold on early winter morning. A block heater ( like i have) is not suficiant.
It Is that or a remote starter and new glow plug. i wan't open a head cover to change 1 or 2.
I just got back from Alaska, where I first learned of a Webasto. Virtually every large truck and bus has one. They burn diesel fuel, and bring the engine up to operating temperature much faster than a block heater.
Unless you live in the Artic, though, you could likely do without one.
if you are parking the truck near electrical outlets, use the factory block heater ... if you are parking in a lot away from buildings, you would rely on the webatso, they have a self contained heater that burns diesel fuel and circulates the coolant throughout the block and heating system. I believe they use about 1.5 gals of fuel in 8 hours of operation. I dont know where you would hang it, they are pretty fair size.
well i guess it doesn't sound too bad if your in the really cold. even here in michigan i don't think it would be needed other than saving fuel for trucks while they park over night but still need heat.
