Power Stroke Problems - Need Advice
I have a 2004 F250 Super Duty (26,000 miles), it has been in the shop 3 times now with surging, stalling problems. Last time it left me on the side of the road. Engine harness has been replaced along with multiple injectors. Last dealer visit, 1 injector was replaced to fix the problem.
Now I am debating selling the truck. I love the truck and hate to get rid of it, but I do not want something that is not dependable. Also seeing 12 other Power Strokes in the shop with mine makes me question the quality of this truck.
Is it likely I will continue to have problems with the injection?
Does ford have a real fix for this problem or just bandaids?
What is the warranty on the fuel injection system?
Also what about extended warranty plans?
If I deceide to sell the truck, I will not buy another Ford simply because of the problems I have had with this truck.
Sorry for all the questions, thanks for reading.

Do you know what your engine build date is?
I would guess that the programming recalls are current on your truck.
To much oil can cause your issues along with a # of other things.

The fuel injections system is covered under the emissions section of the warranty. On the 6.0L that gives it the full 5 year/100,000 mile coverage under the factory warranty. Any extended warranty purchased above & beyond that will vary.
Just my two cents, but I wouldn't turn my back on Ford for problems that you've had with a specific engine. All of the motor companies have had at least one engine that was their nightmare for one reason or another. Depending on your perspective, the 6.0L may very well fall into that category. Regardless, Ford is still a pretty good motor company, and even within the Super Duty line-up, they have a couple other drivetrains to offer.
I too had a 2004 with some issues. However most of my problems where not resolved because of poor technicians. How good is your dealer mechanic and have you tried another dealer. These 6.0's are not easy to work on because of all the technology that was put into the diesel motor. Just ask some of our friendly tech's that help on our board here. They will tell you that they are no longer mechanics. They are technicians. Anyways I decided to get an 06 because like you I did not trust my 04 anymore. And I must say I am very happy with the 06. And I found a great dealer with a great technician. I am very confident that any problem will be fixed right. But if you read here in this forum the 05's and 06's are pretty solid.
