engine swap -- 4.2
First time on the site--looks interesting-- I have a 1997 f-150,2 wheel drive,4 speed with the 4.2 v-6. Engine is blown!! Is there another engine or engine/tranny combo that I can put in without needing a degree in rocket science???? Just scimming through some of the site and found that the 302 has the same block?? Does that mean a 5.0 from any full size car would fit?? If I did that ,what about the computer? Thanks

Um, no, the 302 isn't the same block.
You *might* be able to swap in a later Exploder 302 with auto tranny in structural terms, and since that setup is also OBD2 like yours, that is helpful, but even factory F150 options like the 4.6 or 5.4L are work...and they would just drop in with the right pieces to go with them.
You would need all the associated electronics with any of the mentioned engines...
