3 times now my Expy has pretty much stop while driving down the highway. I press on the gas pedal and nothing the check engine soon light comes on. If you wait long enough it shuts off. I pull over restart and everything is fine. It's been in and they find nothing. Just wodering if anyone has this kind of issue.
From what you describe I can"t even guess. It is either a fuel or spark problem. If it hesitated first that might point to a fuel problem. Have you been to an authorized ford dealer and have them run a diagnostic?
It's only happened one time before and twice yesterday. The plugs and fuel filter have been changed, but they did not find anything else that was wrong.
What happens is - I'm driving along at 70 mph and there is sound that hard to decribe. When I try to give it some gas nothing happens, but the truck is still running. After 20 seconds or so it shuts off. I stop turn the key off and restart and everything is fine.
sounds like the pats module might be bad. happend to me going down the road . the expy would just shut down. was able to restart it once then could not start it at all. does your theft light stay on when trying to start it ?
or does it come on while driving
Didn't notice any other lights beside the Service Engine Soon light at first and then all the lights when it shuts down completely. It starts right back up and seems normal after though.
I brought the truck into the dealer on Friday and the said the found a wiring harness which had been rubbing on something and it wore through. I am assuming it was causing a short every once in awhile causing the engine to stall at any time. Of course it was not covered under the extended warranty I have. Just wondering if this sounds right and they fopund the problem or they just found something else.
Sounds very wiring harness-like. I'm the guy that replaced two fuel pumps before the dealer found the wiring harness problem... Slightly different symptoms than what I had but still very, very similar.
Hello everyone. This my first post. Is it ok to bring this post back to life? I did some searching before posting and this sounds similar to the problem I have.
'98 Expedition (4.6L) that drives fine for a week then surges a couple times and quits while driving down the road. It may do it 4 times in a day and then be fine for a week. Took it to two shops and the dealer. **The computer is not showing any codes** One guess is the computer may be going bad but after reading this post the wiring may be the problem.
Can someone give me an idea where to inspect the wires? Any other thoughts?
Thanks,
Mike
Is there any way that someone could get me a picture of the rear wiper on the inside of the window and on the inside of the hatch where it meets? I have an '03 Expo and the wiper arm won't move, the motor turns the metal disc on the hatch and I can move the arm manually but they don't work together. I don't know, maybe there is a part missing or something. Thanks
