2000 expy p0442 trouble code help
my check engine light has been on for a few weeks, i had it scanned today and the code P0442 came up.
I have already checked all of the hoses around the engine and behind the battery, the elbow assembly behind the throttle body has been replaced last year. car runs drives and idles great.
What else could i check?
(i have checked the fuel cap)
the serpentine belt broke 2 weeks ago while driving, i thought that maybe this caused to knock off one of the hoses but i don't see anything broken or loose.
Thanks

Also search "evap" for ideas.
I have an '04 E350 that throws this code a couple of times a year, so I kinda keep an eye on the boards for a fix. Because the vent problem on the van is intermittent, when the code isn't present it passes emissions. Since whatever leak exists does not effect the way the engine runs, for me this repair keeps getting bumped.
today i visually inspected all of the lines i started all the way in the rear of the vehicle and followed the lines up front to the engine, everything looked good visually, i have also checked all fuses.
does anyone know how i can test the evap components to see if they are operating the way they should?
Thank you
Kerim
Clean/inspect the gas cap and its seating surfaces.
Inspect/clean the Canister Vent valve.
Replace the gas cap with an exact Motorcraft replacement.
Replace the vent valve with a new vent valve.
...then take it to a shop for a smoke test to find the small evap leak.
