Base Ignition Timing, 4.9

Does anyone out there know what the base ignition timing is on an 88 F-150 with the 4.9 and an AOD tranny? My vehicle emmisions decal has been missing since I have owned the truck. I am thinking that it is 10 degrees BTDC.
Thanks!

I pulled the spout plug today and put a timing light on it and the base timing was around TDC. I moved it up to around 11 Degrees BTDC and took it for a ride, wow, what a difference. Not pinging either.

10 degrees btdc with spout removed is the stock setting.

I have had the truck for six years, I never have checked the timing on it. It only has 78,000 original miles on it right now.

It started fine and ran olay but, it did not seem to have the power it should. It has it now! I also checked the fuel pressure and it is 46 psi.

just goes to show you that no matter how many miles or how old you need to go through the entire vehicle when you buy it.

i find it hard to believe you drove it like that for six years before realizing it lacked power.

I have never had a 4.9 before. I made three 3000 mile trips with it and averaged around 19 MPG on the interstate. It just did not have the get up and go my old 390 had in my 71 F-100 but, I thought hack, it is a six.
