My tune-up guy suggested using the Motorcraft plugs as suggested on the emission sticker under the hood. If you do a lot of driving, go with the same plug, but copper, it'll last a bit longer.
Motorcraft BSF 44C . They do just fine & arent that expensive . There are some auto parts stores that sell them besides Ford , A lot of times you can get them for under a $1 each if they are on sale , Maybe $1.50 reg price .
yeah i recommend the motorcrafts too, hard to beat.

I run Bosch Platuim Plus (not the four electrode model) or Motorcraft . Split fires are a waste as a saw no improvemt for the bucks and took them back for Motorcraft.
If your are stock I would also stay away from the cheap dist caps and rotors and go with motor craft. My NEW (autoZone)dist cap is only 3 months old and the post are rusted bad making the truck harder to start.
I noticed that with the bosch I got better gas millage and stronger pulling up hills and a rock solid idle.
with motorcraft I get a smothe Idle but some of the top end hp is gone as I have to lug it up hills or slow down enough to drop in to third.
Autolights seem to foul out faster then the rest .
with Bosch plugs I get around 17-18
with MotorCraft I get 16 Mpg

I have driven my '81 4.9L over 200,000 miles and after that long you get to know your engine's favorite things. I use Bosch platnium plugs. They burn clean and last longer than all the others i have tried.
Now let me introduce my newest F-150 below. If my 2002 lasts as long as my 1981 than i shouldn't need another F-150 until sometime around 2022.

i was wondering the same thing, has anyone tried those new bosch fours, or heard anything about them. i have heard before that yes the split fires are garbage. for those of you running bosch which ones do you have??
fatfarm, I run Bosh Platinums in my Cherokee. They are the single electrode type, and I put the plats in so I wouldn't have to change them as often. The multiple electrodes will last even longer, because the spark transfers to another electrode when one wears. But I don't think that they do anything for perforance, because they still give only one spark per combustion event, not four, as Bosh would like you to think.
I have 10K miles on the Bosh plats now, and like them fine (no misfires). But I haven't pulled one to check it yet.:-X23
I have looked around and never found the Bosch Platinum plugs for and strait 6 300 engine. The only one I was able to find was the Bosch Super. What part number are you using that is the Bosch Platinum?
Thanks.
Platinum Plugs will last longer. Copper is a better conductor. Every year or so you should replace your copper plugs, your platinums will last at least 2 years. The 2-electrode ones will probably last long, but as mentioned above won't give more power. The 4-way plugs many say are bad, and I would tend to believe them. All that happens when its fireing is the spark kernel goes to 1 electrode, and the other 3 just end up shrouding it. With a 2-way I don't see it shrouding too bad, but with the 4-ways you're taking away alot of angle.
