Need ideas: stuck flare nut fitting on power steering gear

I'm trying to install a reman'd PS gear in my 95 F-150 4x4 5.8.

The 'upper' tubing fitting (5/8") refuses to budge. My new flare nut wrench just stretches around it, and if I keep using that I think I'll round the nut. I've hit it with a little heat from a propane torch, and numerous shots of PB Blaster, and it's staying put.

I considered removing the other end of this tube, but it's the huge metal cooler line, so it's not going to help much.

Any ideas how to get this thing loose?

Dave

my 2 cents
If you where to cut the line you should be able to get a box end of a wrench or maybe a socket on the fitting. Problem is it dosn't sound like you where wanting to replace that line.

I would prefer to not replace it, however there is enough line there that maybe I could flare the cut end and fit it again. I've never done work with tubing, and the truck is needed for towing on Sunday afternoon, so if that doesn't work and I can't buy a replacement I'm screwed.

Well it looks like the local Advanced Auto has the whole hard line in stock for only $20. Boy it's nice working on Fords. I'm used to working on my Mazda RX-7, where I'm lucky if I can get my parts within the week.

I have had some luck in the past with a cold chisel and hammer if you have the room to swing the hammer. just use it like an impact tool to get it started back.

$20 for the low pressure line and 'cooler' section. But I did see the HP line for a similar price I think.

Anyway, cutting it worked. It's a shame to throw out perfectly good parts, but that's what happens when you have an aluminum fitting threaded into a cast iron housing and let to season for 11 years and 155k miles. Grr.
