Body panel adhesive
I'm new to the forums and to tell you the truth reading all of the threads and information is like money in the bank. This place rocks... Anyway here is the run down on my machine.
Late 1978 F150 Ranger, 300 inline 6, short bed, 4 on the floor, 4x4, U paint code... Dad had one when i was growing up and a learned how to drive and work with it. Finally found one in NC that was in really nice shape.
I have very limited rust on the truck the previous owner took very good care of it. There is the usual rust in the usual places. Right now i'm tackling the rear wheel wells... I found some rot at the top of the wheel wells inner and outer.
My question is this... I want to use body adhesive but I don't know how it is used. I do not want to weld since that will lead to more rust.
So can anyone explain to me how to use body panel adhesive? I looked it up on the internet and can't really find much info. 3M's website has a description but they mention tack welding... I can't weld...
Any info would be great... Keep in mind that I'm a true beginner and explaining things down to the last detail will be greatly appreciated...
Thank you very much.

After reading up on the process and the pros and cons I have desided to put the flour pans in my 77 using the adhesive. It is supposed to have a higher strength than a weld and have the added bonus of not promoting additional rusting because of the heat. I have a friend with a tig welder and he says that there will not be any additiona rusting if I prep the surface right and paint but I can do the adhesive in my driveway instead of going to his shop.
I hope someone else says something about this process because I want to know how it has worked for others.
