My friend has a 65 or 66 F100 and wants to know where the VIN# is on the frame. Any help here would be appreciated. He says the tag is gone off the door, its registered as a 66, but is still curious. Thanks, Mike.
Hi Mike, That question has been asked many times, and a search of the forum would have rendered the answer.
The number in question is located on the top of the passenger side chassis rail just ahead of the front axle. Sometimes they are a little pesky to dig out but it is there.
Thanks for your help on this. I did do a search but must have done it in the wrong section. Nice to get such a fast reply, my friend is grateful too, Mike.
Hmmmm, I just used the search this forum and put in "vin location" and got 22 pages of threads. You must be right.
John
then you are a forum searching 'god'
I've been on ford-trucks.com for quite a while and I still have a hard time searching and finding the info that I am looking for. (BTW don't let the date that I joined confuse you, this is my second account on this website being that I couldn't remember the password to the first)(and not a computer newb as this is what I do for a living)
and this kind of sarcasm and downright rude behavior is what keeps me from asking some questions.

Sorry that you have not had a good searching experence here. I thought it was odd that he couldn't find anything on that popular subject, so I gave it a try and was supprised to find that many pages when he couldn't.
I'm not going to get into an argument on this subject so it will be my last post on it. You could have very easily pointed him in the correct way to do a search without being condescending. It's really not necessary and makes people not want to ask questions. Which, by the way, is why this website is here in the first place, if no one asked questions then it would still be a waste of cyberspace. But being that many, many people have asked and received answers it has made it what it is today (a great site). If you get irritated with people that keep asking the same question that everyone else asks, then don't respond.

Arguing on the internet is like running in the special olympics, even if you win you're still retarded. Im not taking it personally, I did search but not that hard. I never used the search words "vin location". Just did a search with the words "vin number". This guys bad disposition is his personal problem, just too bad he is also a mod here. Not the first moderator I have seen with a stick up his butt. I really am glad the information was provided, no kidding, but you should'nt waste any more time on him. Regards, Mike.

Terry, I am sorry that you didn't like my response. Mike posted that he couldn't find anything on the vin. I felt that I needed to check it out and did so. I also agreeded with him that he must have searched in the wrong place, since that many pages came up.
Seems like a forum post would also suffer the same chances which is what I think happened here. I for one didn't think John's post was sarcastic or rude; after all he did answer the question, but then again maybe I am wrong .
