P1744 code and sugestions
Okay, checked the trans problem at auto zone and came back with a p1744 which is the TC. I also checked with another mechanic who I really trust and he came back saying that it also appears that there is a bad solenoid. After he tells me this I told him funny, I just changed the transmission fluid. At this point he scolds me and says you should have asked me first I would have told you not to. He went on to say that unless you change the oil on these (and other american rigs, ESPECIALLY dodge) every 10k with a max of 15k you are better off leaving the fluid and letting it burn up. He thinks I could have gotten another 25k if I had just left it. (77k on truck now.)
Anyway it needs to be rebuilt, do any of you have any other suggestions on replacement parts or items that would or should be replaced? I really hate to have this happen again with a different part and do this all over again next month.
