Hi, just so I am doing this correct, only the OEM from Ford has the vent and other aftermarket thermostats for the 7.3L application may not. Is this okay for the 7.3L not to have that vent? Or am I going to ruin my engine?
If you are using an aftermaket Tstat make sure it is a long stem version. The standard 203* from NAPA is a short stem and WILL NOT close the bypass disk inside the pump when the stat opens. Less than a month ago someone posted about burning up their motor because they used a NAPA short stem version.
If you got the stat from Dieselsite the all you need to do is clean and dry the mating surface on the pump and drop her in. When you put the bolts back in dont tighten one more than another and bring them all down togeter a little at a time.
