any help would be appreciated. i have a throttle-body injected 302 in a 1981 lincoln parts car. stock, these engines did at best about 180 HP. i've done some research and nobody seems to be able to give me a straight answer.
what i want to know is what do i need to do to upgrade/swap-out the EFI to something with more kick (i.e. cobra, GT-40, systemaxx II). i know the upper and lower manifolds, probably the harness, and cam. but do i need swap out the heads and computer? should i be looking for an entire early 80's mustang setup on e-bay? i don't really know what the mustangs were using in '81 for induction.
All early 80's Stangs were carbed. To wake up that 81 302, you'll need heads, cam, induction, exhaust. The heads are really boat anchor material, huge 70 cc chambers and poor flow characteristics.
