Thanks stuart,
I was just wondering because one seems to be turning blue, like it got real hot or something. If I used an orbital sander on the plates would it hurt anything? Thanks again guys.
A 1/4 sheet palm sander will give the results your looking for. First check to see that they are flat and not cone shaped.
My tranny frienf had a 4' long x 2' diameter rock tumbler and and had a supply of already tumbled plates. They had the same finish as new manufactured as they tumble and debur.

humm, a rock tumbler.......... what an idea! I got all kinds of sanders though, I have a palm sander too. This drum is taking forever by hand. I got your message Stuart. I was not home when you sent it though, sorry. Thanks guys and hopefully by tomarrow afternoon I will have everything ready for assembly!!!!!
Brad
How long can I soak my new fibers and band before installation? Can I start them tonight for install tomarrow morning, or do I need to wait till closer to install?
Oh and one more thing, I only seem to have 4 pressure plates. Is that the right number or did I mistakenly through on out with the old bands and fibers?
Brad
Yea!! but Uh Oh.
Stuart thanks for your help this morning, but I have a Big problem. Its called having parts left over after assembly. For some reason I wound up with an internal snapring laying here after I got everything but the intermeadit piston, valvebody, and govener. This ring is the same size as the one that went into the one way clutch. Does any one have a clue where I need to look to find the place to put this thing at? I hate to have parts left over.
Thanks again for your help,
Brad
Years ago my tranny friend let me rebuild a C-6 at his shop under his guidance with the use of his presses and end clearance tools. Wow I was lucky until he added a few extra parts so I ended up with left over parts. Makes one worry for a while. Been there done that.
lol Beemernut,
unfortunaly I didnt have any extra snaprings. If I understand the diagram that Stuart inserted earler in the string, I may have needed it in the low/reverse hub or oneway hub which ever you want to call it. I got three in there now, two for the oneway, and one holding the rear planet in place. the diagram seems to show four snaprings in that area. The biggest bitch about this is I have to take the pump and everything else out to get to it to look. D#$% it Jim!!! lol Thanks for any guidence or funny comments. Its good to have a sence of humer in times like thiese. If any one wants to chat with me, look me up on yahoo messanger, bradb2230 is my ID. Talk to you later guys.
Brad
Hell if you don't laugh you'll cry. Lucky me I had a spare C-6 to tear apart, I said tear apart not take apart as there is a difference.
Friends laugh with ya, enemies laugh at ya.

Whew,
It seems to me that I paniced a bit to early. after several days of scratching my head, it finnaly dawned on my where the snapring should go. My C-6 has a short tail, and none of my books show a short tail. Because I dont have a slip yoke in the back of my transmission I have a ball bearing set that has a snapring to hold it into the case. Thanks Stuart for helping me figure that one out. I still seem to have to much endplay, so I guess I am going to have to take my thrustwashers out and find some where that sells them so I can get replacements.I have looked within 50 miles of here but havent had any luck. I may have to go to Topeka or Kansas City. Thanks guys and I will keep you posted.
Brad
Wow what a day,
After traveling over 200 miles with my nextdoor neighbor, I finnaly found some washers. I have my end play down to 0.010, and I am much happyer with that. Now I am ready to rebuild the VB but the kit I have dosent have any directions. I am hopeing that someone has put in one of thies Pioneer Inc. automotive products Part no. 765001. All that came in my kit was a bag of springs and a gasket, nothing else.
Is there anyone at all that can help with this? Thanks guys and have a good day!
Brad
P.S. There are 7 springs, one gasket for the intermedite piston and two drill bits. WTF??????

Well with a lot of help from stuart, i have finnaly got this transmission put back together!!!!!! Now the next step is clean and prep the truck for instalation. I cleaned the cooler yesterdayand could not belive how much fluid was still in it. I sprayed break cleaner through it both ways then put the compressor to it and blew it out untill it was all dry. I did the same to the lines. now I need to clean the outside of the lines and the croosmembers that I had to take off. I am also going to take the exaust compleatly off.( thats what I get for having custome stainless steel pipes put on!) When that is done I can go forward with the install. I think the onething I need to do to the tranny is adjust the intermeadit band, and set the locknut, but thats basicly it.
Thanks guys and keep the ideas comming in!!!
