I finally got my '92 IDI non-turbo home, and it runs good. However, the tach only works intermittently. I presume it's an electronic tach, but have no idea what or where it gets hooked up to. Any ideas on where to start.
Thanks, tjc just the info I was looking for. Does this sensor go bad, 'er is it commom for them to go bad? The connections seam fine. I plugged - unplugged it a few times and it's working, but that's not a sure indication it's fixed just yet. I'll put some miles on it and see.
well.... i have heard they go bad, but my 88 has never given me any problems.
and the 89 i sold to a friend in 96, and the 90 i sold to another trucking company in 99 still have their original sensors also.
The tach on my 87 is funny, when I put the left turn signal on the tach starts moving in sync with the turn signal, only at idle though. Any ideas about that?
Mine did the same thing and my transmission guy told me it was important to the tranny operation and I bought a sender and a throttle position sensor and he installed and adjusted them when he rebuilt my tranny. If you have an e40d, it's pretty important to the correct shifting of your tranny.
