Obviously this is a variety of understatement that I should be careful of impuning...
(He says, drily)
I know that he has dumped about nine grand into the rear axle all by itself, and that the engine is a 302. I'll try to remember to get specific web address info tomorrow. There are about 5 or 6 machines they float as a team together, I'll find out what raceway tomorrow too.
It gets more interesting when you realise that some of the body panels came off of RV's.
Use what ya got, man! If you had a five by three aluminum panel that had a bent corner and was going to the dumpster after the warrantee service was done - what would YOU do with it???
The quarter mile track was a nightmare tonight, took forever to get in finally.
I ran 16.54, the S-10 ran 16.95 (had some problems with it today), but the highlight of the day was definetly the Chrysler running. Clocked an 1/8th mile at 10.82, and apparently he thought that was when you were supposed to slow down or something.
The highlight of the whole night: Watching a heavily modified S-10 absolutely spank a modded Mustang.
I can woop a modified S 10 with my truck, the mustang must not have been trying. In the modified 5.0 class up here, there's mustangs running the quarter in the 7 second range. Did the mustang break out, or red light, as I'm sure they were bracket racing ? We have some 5.0 rangers running in the 9's, and 10's, of course we have some as slow as the 13's, and 14's as well ha ha, Thats the great thing about drag racing, you can run your moma's station wagon, and still win. 2 summers ago, an 86 ford tempo took the whole night in the stock class, and there were some fast cars. That sucker was constant at hitting his time. He picked up his 5,000 dollar check, and drove his automatic 4 banger tempo home. the disavantage is, the girls aren't impressed as they are with a nice rod on a trailor, but the money spends the same, and tempo guy has no over head. At least you beat an S 10, good job. Is your strip a quarter mile? Thats all we have around here.
Lol Wendell I'm not talking modified like exhaust and chip and stuff. I'm talking built big block modified.
We have both a quarter and an eigth mile at the same place. It's usually easier to get into the 8th mile, especially if you actually want to race, but the quarter is much more fun to me.
The S-10 was having alternator difficulties last night. We went to eat before going out there. The battery was virtually drained. We jump started it off my truck, but the battery gauge never really worked itself up to anywhere close to middle until we were out on the highway doing 70+, then I guess it was finally flowing enough amperage to work good.
We were walking around the pits looking at cars, heard what I would say was the loudest car out there that night over at the 1/8th mile strip. So we walked over there, some guy was playing with a dragster of some sort. Whatever it was it was running off and leaving everything over there, I think his time was 3.37 for the 1/8th, not positive on that though.
I got a couple of pics of the night, but none really turned out great. I also got a couple of videos on my phone, but they didn't turn out spiffy either. And for the life of me I can't figure out where the heck I saved the pictures.
