SCT Strategy simple question...

I just purchased this tuner and

Have a choice between:

-Towing
-Performance
-Street

In towing mode, it doesnt really feel much quicker than stock, street is in middle and Performance mode is the black smoke mode!!! haha!

It is not documented how much each modes provide HP/TQ anywhere..

Was just wondering if anyone would have that information?

thank you!

1. A little over stock, nice shifting
2. I can feel it now
3. Whoa Moma.....

Which tuner did you buy? Custom tunes? Using the high setting with no aftermarket exhaust raises your exhaust temperature beyond safe.

With SCT the tunes should be Economy, Tow and Street. Did you get a custom tune? You also might want to return your truck to stock then read the strategy again and call the dealer you bought from. How did you go about reading your strategy the first time? There may be a better file available for your truck. I had to have a new strategy sent to me and it made the world of difference. I don't know this for sure, but the Tow tune probably shifts much differently and make power at a different RPM. The Economy tune wasn't but about 20hp difference than the Street, but I could notice the feel a lot because of the different shifting along with the extra HP.

If memory serves me the "Street" tune yields 400 RWHP and 680lb TQ, Economy is 380RWHP, but I can't remember the rest. This is for my 06 F250. The Xtreme tunes start at around 420RWHP.

I setup a FlashPaq on my brother-in-law's truck today and it's really amazing how different these two tuners are. He's thinking of returning it and getting an SCT.

Its a XCalibrator SF Strategy

I've just downloaded the most recent strategies...

Maybe the names will change...

But on the unit right out of the box, the three choices were really:

-Towing
-Performance
-Street

I have no economy mode.

I run stock exhaust/ intake for now...

Until I get a EGT gauge, I'll stay away from performance tune!

Who did you get your tuner from? I remember having a similar experience when I first got the SCT. It felt like no performance increase at all...actually felt a little mushy. The files that I downloaded were not correct for my engine. Innovative Diesel sent me the newer strategy and it was night and day. That was why I suggested to return yours to stock and try uploading the strategy's again to the tuner. Are you also using LiveLoad 3?

You may notice a difference after uploading them again and then retuning your truck.

LVEILLON, i also returned my flashpaq to the store (4 wheel parts) where I blought it. We called Superchips from the store and they told my salesman at 4 wheel parts "tough." I won't buy another one. I know that SCT is a sepatate company owned by Superchips, but their chip program is much better than the load that I got from my flashpaq. I had shift problems, no power. My 2004 6.0 in an F-350 would smoke the tires with the Superchips programmer. But the flashpaq I bought for my 2006 6.0 F-350 stank. I'm looking for a dealer that I can purchase a SCT programmer from now. Tim

I can firmly recommend Innovative Diesel. Erich is the tuner and is really on top of things! He puts a lot of time in working on these tunes and his response time is amazing for someone that busy. Call and ask for Erich or Ted. If you know your PCM code it will speed things along.

You can find it by removing the battery on the driver's side. It's under the battery. It should begin with a "VX". You can get the SCT and read the strategy and then call/email Erich at Innovative Diesel with this code and he will email you the tunes. You then upload them to the SCT and go tune the truck. I read my truck with a different device(FlashPaq) and it didn't pull the correct code, but it was close.

Hope this helps...

I too had a problem with my Xcalibrator Strategy flash on an 06. The strategy was correct. I reloaded and downloaded all the latest files and still no luck. Called SCT and they sent me a file called "No Power" Huh, go figure. It made a world of difference. Still don't think it has as much as advertised though according to my G-tech.

MSD Ignition now owns Superchips. Anyone know if they purchased SCT as well?

My only concern was more for the Towing mode...

The street AND performance modes have massive HP increase, and I can really fell it!

Performance tune is spinning wheels in 1st and 2nd gear easily!

mulot30th...I think 50rwhp is about all they will go on a TowMode, but if you call Eric at Innovative Diesel and describe what you typically pull he can custom tune something for you. My tow tune has the "JakeBrake" feature that works really well. It takes a litte getting used to , but works great. If memory serves...the FlashPaq1805 makes 60rwhp in their tow-haul mode, but they don't provide any trans tunning. I'll bet Eric can hook you up. His responses to me have been phenominal.

AzBadBoy...MSD bought Superchips of Florida a while back from my flying buddy Peter Wales. SCT is a totally different company and Not owned by MSD.I thought I would continue using the FlashPaq for my 06 PSD, but had way too many problems getting logged in for updates and grew tired of the promises of custom tunes coming in two weeks that I decided to try SCT and couldn't believe there would be that much difference between two similar type tuners. It was night and day and I've sold my two FlashPaq1805's. Better Power, Better Shifting and Better MPG with my SCT.

My feeling is the TOW mode tune the tranny differently BUT almost no HP increase.

Street is maybe 80hp, (but o meter)

and Performance well over 100hp (butt o meter again)..

I've timed a 0-60 run in the low 7 second range if that may help you figure the power increase.
