No problem...I was told that V10 makes a difference, but don't know if it is an eye-opener or just noticeable. Knowing your truck's strategy will help figure out things later.
It might be hard to feel the HP gain in Tow mode with the transmission files being different. I'd like to hear what the G-Tech says.
I am more familiar with the XCal2 Custom tunes so I can't tell you exactly what to expect after going to V10. I know it does contain more current engine files. Definitely try to keep your trucks from being re-flashed by FORD until SCT gets this latest Flash worked out.
mulot30...Meaning if you went in for service of some type they are known for flashing your truck with the latest FORD ECM changes and some recalls. Most of the time you won't get flashed if you just bring it in for an oil change, but for warranty work I've heard of them re-flashing.
Just keep it away from the dealership(grin). Did you read your strategy yet? I can tell you what series of strategy you have in FORDS lineup.
I run a custom street file. My extreme race gets bad mileage, blows smoke, eats tires and gets me tickets.
Criminally speeding in three seconds is the only way to be...
I have a custom street file also and it is one mean tune. It's hard to not put your foot in this one the way it's setup. I imagine that when those tires are spinning it's throwing rock like crazy(grin).
I have been in street mode for a while now, have not had the unit out of box in couple months, so not looked...but where does the version display, at plugin/startup or elsewhere?
Interesting what you posted (LVEILLON) about the tow tune on the SF (9415) - I used it when towing, but only a 4k lb max boat, not much of a challenge for the X. But in "stock" tune with the tow/haul button pushed you can feel the different shift points more than SCT tow tune, even with empty, towing nothing. Perhaps the SCT tow tune is smarter than the Ford option, will shift differently under heavy load? Won't be able to test that until I get the 30'+ camper I have my eye on...
Thanks!
mulot30th...That is a good strategy code and the same series as mine. At least you know what you are working with now and can supply SCT if you decide to go with Custom Tunes.
LVEILLON, i also returned my flashpaq to the store (4 wheel parts) where I blought it. We called Superchips from the store and they told my salesman at 4 wheel parts "tough." I won't buy another one. I know that SCT is a sepatate company owned by Superchips, but their chip program is much better than the load that I got from my flashpaq. I had shift problems, no power. My 2004 6.0 in an F-350 would smoke the tires with the Superchips programmer. But the flashpaq I bought for my 2006 6.0 F-350 stank. I'm looking for a dealer that I can purchase a SCT programmer from now. Tim
The 05 and 06's will not have the power of the earlier models. It's Ford's great strategy to avoid engine problems I guess.
I run the Flashpaq for my 05. I have no previous experience with any tuners.
My feelings:
Turbo lag is still bad with all three tunes.
In performance mode, the truck runs great.
Tow mode is great when I haul hay or cattle.
As far as the posters problem with Flashpaq updates on the Internet, I updated mine when I first bought it. Had no problems.
Also, the Flashpaq DOES tune the tranny..............
I bought the Flashpaq because I wanted SAFE power..............
Johndeere is correct about the lack of power in 05 and 06 models in a "Tuneable" state.
My problems with my FlashPaq were not exactly the same as the other guy that also returned his to purchase SCT.
I guess I should have been more specific on my FlashPaq issues but I was more specific in an actual "FlashPaq" thread.
Yes the FlashPaq tunes the Tranny but very generalized tunes nothing like SCT offers...
The SCT has proven to be SAFE Power also and is way ahead of SuperChips (my opinion) as far as what it is actually doing with the transmission.
There is virtually NO Turbo Lag noticeable with my SCT in any tune. I purchased an SCT to try before I sold my FlashPaq. As I said many times before I owned SuperChip products for many years, but the FlashPaq has just taken TO LONG to become the tuner it was hyped to be. The only reason I bought the FlashPaq was for Updates and Custom Tunes. They delivered half. Now it seems they are going to offer everything they spoke about...Just a little to late for me.
As long as your happy with a product there is no need go looking for anything different (grin)
mulot30th...It really doesn't "Mean" anything...It's just one of the current tuneable strategy codes that will work. There are some trucks that have specific new strategys that have not been worked out by SCT, SuperChips(FlashPaq) or other tuner companies. The trucks that have these versions that don't work probably won't be waiting much longer. Whatever Ford changed on the last flash is really causing them problems I guess.
I Agree The Sct Is Awesome Even My Tow Tune From Innovative Diesel , I Had Eric Get Rid Of The Turbo Lag , Non-existant Now The Exaust Brake Is Awesome, Just Pulled A 4 Horse Trailer Feom California To Texas With 4 Horses, No Problems Just Power, Awesome Trans. Controls, Bit I Must Not As Much Fun To Drive As My Extreme Tune , Wish I Could Tow With The Extreme Tune, Eric Is An Awesome Tuner
This is way off topic...Just curious LAWNMOWERMAN...On a trip that Long...How do you water your horses and keep them hydrated especially in the heat wave we are in now? I know very little about caring for A Large animal let alone Four...I heard that some Horse owners give the horse a vitamin injection so their systems won't get over stressed?
