Towed the tractor, bush hog, spreader and a load of pellatized lime up to the hunting camp this past week. 10K load. Got home and 3 days later trans starts slipping bad. (400R4) Won't even go forward in 1st gear. Had to put it in second gear to get going and then bump it into drive onces going. Slipping in all gears though. Took it to shop and they confirmed that a new trans was in my future. They recommeded a Jasper Transmission. From what I've read and talked to some folks around here they all said they were pretty decent. Come with a 3 year 75K warranty which I like. I got a high performance set up. Beefed up low stall torque converter, shift kit, better clutchs, etc.
Just wondering if anyone else had heard or used a Jasper Transmission in there truck before?
I have heard of Jasper. They do have a fairly large network. I am not familiar with their PSD work though. While it sounds like a good warranty, I just don't know my truck would go there. What was the price quote?
Thanks for the reply's. I checked on the BTS. $4000 for just the tranny plus install. 2 quotes of $5500 plus and I'd have to wait a week or so for them to get it in. Guess the guy is backed up. Only had a 2 year warranty on it as well.
I'm going to go ahead and give the Jasper a try. They ordered it the other day. I had it beefed up with a low stall 3 plate converter and better clutches. $3500 installed and programmed. 3 year 75K warranty is a good selling point to. I have a 00PSD with 78K on it. Doubt I'll make that 75K by 3 years. All the shops around here like the Jasper and have had great luck with them in the Fords. Guess I'll find out and give a report back. If I have to pull the warranty gig on it I'll have them get me a BTS and tell Jasper to suck wind.
Now I just need my truck back so I can go chase some King and Spanish Macks in the pass. The reports say they are thick as gravy over there. Just got to be there to catch one and boat doesn't run up the hwy very well on its outboard!!!
Man Rob, sucks about the tranny. Hope that Jasper works for you. BTW, looks like you fell into the same trap I did many years ago by buying vehicles that will not fit in the garage. I just finally refinished the garage into man-town and bought a car port.

10-4 on the garage. Out of all the trucks I've had I don't think any of them have spent a single day in any garage. I actually have a 400sqft room above my garage that I'm trying to finish up. Between the hurricanes and a kitchen project we started a couple of months ago the man room has been on hold. Maybe I'll get back on it one day. I've run out of room for all my deer and turkey mounts in the house. I want to move them out there and get a spot of my own. Just let the wife take over the house. Next house will have a big steel building out back with a indoor pop up archery range...well thats the dream any how.
What part of TN are you from? I bought my truck a couple of years ago from a guy who lived in Johnson City(NE Corner of the state).

You can get it installed in your town for less than that if you have friends. I got mine installed for $250 in cash. BTS 2 yr warranty is only the written one. Someone on this board paid him $500 for a rebuilt trans AFTER the warranty expired. Guess what, $500 will not even cover the Torque Converter. And that was with shipping, IIRC. Shipping 2 ways is going to be at least $300. Will Jasper do that for you?
