Ok I'm replacing my 300 with a 460, it looks like my 300, has a front sump oil pan, does the 460 need to have the same, I measured the room between my 300 oil pan and the crossmember I have like 3 to 4 inches of clearence, the 460 came out of a lincoln.
if your planning to put a 460 in your truck you need to have a rear sump pan and a crossmember from p a w they sell the cross member. reply back for greater detail
For a 2wd you'll need a front sump pan with the drain plug in the back. 4wd take the rear sump. You'll also need motor stands and mount from a 73-79 with a factory 460. Have fun It's easy with the right stuff.
Well I got the mounts and everything ready, waiting for the transmission. It will not be long now, just waiting on some body work to be finished..Thanks for the help all.
if your going to put a 460 in your truck you should go with a rear sump pan with the high volume ford racing oil pump. also like the other guy said you sould get the cross member from paw. repley back for more details...
What year of truck are you swapping the 460 into. If its a 65/66 you should not need to buy any crossmembers just the motor mounts fron a mid 70,s pickup with a 460. Maybe there is something I am missing here Eric
That was just someone telling me I needed a new cross member, But I do not, just the new engine tower perches and motor mounts. Currently the truck is getting painted and adding a tilt front end, better room for the blown 460.
Yes the Tilt Front End is fiberglass, I already have it. Currently it is sitting in my garage all ready to be put on this weekend. Have got a hydralic actuator to open and close it. Will be ready for paint next week....And yes, it is from www.USBody.com
