1996 explorer xlt.....i have water in my passenger headlight. where did this come in? we have recently had heavy rains....is this possible? how do i get it out?
My 90 ranger did that a few years back. I carefully pried the front lens loose, (mine was glued plastic...be careful), I then cleaned the lens from the water deposits, then used a thin bead of silicone to put it back on. I didn't see any damage in the back plate and the gasket on the bulb looked good. I figured there was a leak between the clear plastic lens, and the black backing. No trouble since.
Another thing you can do is drill a small drain hole at the lowest part of the lens. Sometimes you can disassemble them and reseal the clear lens, but more often than not you break them in the process.
Problem is the seals hold water in as well as it holds it out. Drilling a small hole (like 1/32" or smaller) will allow the moisture to eventually come out. Maybe not completely but it will help.
