'05 V10 idle

I have a '05 V10 SD, my question is has anyone else had idle problems with this motor? I use it as a canteen truck and once warm it starts fine(@35 X a day) I also have a Valet remote start, do not know if that is relevant or not, but first start of the day sometimes it will not "catch" the remote start only holds starter for a second or so,and if it don't start it tries again in 30 seconds or so. always starts right up second time though. when it does start first time in the AM, whether remotely or manually, it will idle really rough for 3-5 seconds ,then almost stall and then rev up and idle fine the rest of the day. I can't believe this is normal? any ideas? I have 1500 miles and have had nothing yet done to the motor, no oil changes yet, though @ at 2000.

IAC may have a problem
Fuel pump could be suspect also.
When you try next time just put your foot lightly on the gas see if it starts and runs fine when cold if it does ,I would suspect Iac circuit.

I would take it in there have been quite a few reflashes done to the computer to help with Idle and go pedal calibrations.
If you can recreate it at the dealer they should be able to fix it.

Rich, I don't think the 3-valver has an IAC.

The problem with the remote start is this:

There is not enough delay between "key on" and "start". The fly-by-wire throttle system needs a few seconds to settle. I believe it cycles the throttle plates before starting, which takes a second or two, so the normal rotate-the-key-through-ON-right-into-START thing doesn't work the first time. The second time, no problem because it's already cycled the throttle plates.

There are a couple of important re-flashes for the computer with the 3-valver. Check with the dealer if you have the latest "flash".

When starting manually, try this: Turn key to ON, wait 5 seconds, then start it. I bet it starts right up and idles right.

Report back!

Rich, thanks for the clarification, I asked this in the V10 forum, and the answer basically was NO, there was no IAC.

Hmm....

Art ,after further review you were correct ,I was in the wrong section in the manual. his vehicle does not have a IAC
but he may need a reflash to cure his idle problem

reflash?

thanks for the replies guys, what is a "reflash" though? I have never heard of it but I am guessing it updates the computer with the latest/best/newest software? and I can't remember if it does it when I manually start it, I will try tomorrow morn and let you guys know. I tried starting it manually today with the gas pedal slightly depressed and it started and ran smooth, so after a few secs i let off and the idle got very rough for 2 secs and then smoothed right out, the only way i can recreate this for the dealer is to leave it overnight for them to start and I use it daily as a canteen truck and can't really do that except maybe leave on fri for them to start sat morn. ....I shall report back....

Don't touch the gas pedal with the fly-by-wire thing.

Turn the key to ON, wait 5-10 seconds, then start, and see if it does it.

I believe your truck will run just fine if you start it manually. The Valet start system has the gremlin. It tries to start too quickly. If you return back to the place that installed it for you, they can install an adjustable time delay relay for the starter. This will apply voltage to the system before the starter engages, simply by delaying the starter call command. Some of the higher end systems have this incorperated into them already, and simply needs to be adjusted.

Art ,
my 06 will start fine with or without a slight pedal touch
granted his is a 05
remeber Capt had a problem with stalling ,and they reflashed it and corrected his rough idle also .if my weakening memory isn't playing tricks.
